Ever found yourself stuck in a hotel room due to bad weather or feeling unwell? Try these tips to beat the boredom.
Search your city
If you have a laptop with you, get on the internet and Google the city you are in. Compile a list of all the places of interest and tourist attractions you would like to visit and choose your top ten.
Play a game
Pack a deck of cards in your luggage (they don’t take up much room) and indulge in a marathon game of solitaire. Of course, if you have your laptop you have any number of gaming options online.
Learn a new game
Again if you have your laptop and have always wanted to learn to play mahjong or bridge, but have never had the time, here is your opportunity. Find an online tutorial – YouTube is a good place to start – and expand your games knowledge.
Do a mini-makeover
with the toiletries supplied by the hotel to pamper yourself. Take the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing soak in a bubble bath, while deeply conditioning your hair and moisturizing your skin.
Write a letter
Use the hotel stationery to write letters and postcards to friends and family.
Make a call
Call someone you haven’t talked to in a while for a catch up – a word of warning though, keep the long distance charges in mind.
Update your iPod, iPad or MP3 player with the latest songs and TV shows.
Read the manual
If you’ve never taken the time to learn how to use your camera properly, here is your opportunity to get out the handbook and explore all the different features your camera has to offer.
Or, while you have the chance, catch up on some sleep, watch some mindless television or read a book. It’s not your fault that you are stuck in a hotel room, so you don’t have to feel guilty about relaxing and enjoying the break.
